| Arts of Asia course
Tuesdays 1pm - 2pm, Domain Theatre Art Gallery of New South Wales Launched at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 1997, the Arts of Asia lecture series continues to offer a unique opportunity for the study of Asian art in Australia. The year-long series of lectures forms a course which draws on the expertise of Asian art scholars and curators, both nationally and internationally, including the staff of the Art Gallery’s Asian art department. The lectures cover classical and decorative arts from pre-history to the present day. The 1997 introductory course was followed by Arts of Asia Neolithic to Eighth Century (1998), Eighth to Fifteenth Century (1999), Fifteenth to Twentieth Century (2000), Arts of Buddhism (2001). The series comprises two terms of twelve lectures. Each lecture is accompanied by slide lists and references. Each term concludes with a revision lecture. Substantial savings may be made by booking for the full year or term, and lectures may also be booked individually. Those enrolled for the full year become eligible to sit a slide test and submit an essay leading to a diploma. Bookings: Art Gallery Society Art Gallery of New South Wales Telephone: (02) 9225 1878 or book online > *The diploma is not offered for the 2006 course. |
